On calling yourself an artist, knitting superstititions and more!!
It’s time for the weekly roundup of links about yarn/thread/fiber/fabric from the THREADSTACK community. We only got a few this week so here’s your reminder to send one in for next week. All you have to do is enter the info into this Google Form to share any relevant piece - it can be old or new!
Join the THREADSTACK Directory or Invite Someone Else!
We didn’t have anyone new join this week so let’s all spread the word to make sure everyone who loves yarn/thread/fiber/fabric is connected.
Huge gratitude to for sharing Cuando no sabía que soy una tejedora
which is her second essay in the 24 essays series organized by
ofClaudia shares:
“How did I know that I am a knitter. "Fue un lapso de ceguera. Mi cuerpo fue absolutamente controlado por esa fuerza salvaje. Jamás había sentido algo así. De hecho fue una experiencia tan perturbadora que cuando recobré la cordura ya había tejido varias vueltas y me sentía tan confundida que abandoné el tejido y salí rápidamente de la cabaña".
The piece digs into a common creative conundrum - naming/claiming ourselves whether as writers, artists, or in this case, knitters. At what point do you feel comfortable calling yourself that? What relationship with it have you had over time? This is a powerful conversation that I have had many times and my own answers have evolved again and again.
Don’t speak Spanish? Just use a translator app - I tried it and it works well and the language remains beautiful!
Shoutouts!
I offer the opportunity for anyone who shares a link for the week to also “Add a thought, question, inspiring message, or shoutout to another THREADSTACKER.” I love when people choose to do so. Claudia highlights the following wonderful creatives:
If you don’t know them, yet, do go and check them out!!

Huge gratitude this week to for sharing Never knit with green yarn
