It's easy to get lost when looking forward, trying to plan a creative career; remember to look back sometimes and learn from yourself. You already know a lot!! Tips and excerpts from my own book.
I need to be better about looking back and feeling that sense of accomplishment. I tend to be pretty forward looking most of the time, but looking backwards allows you to sort of see how far you've come over a certain period of time. I am confident I can change a LOT for the better over a long enough period of time, largely because I've done it before. Thanks for the reminder, Kathryn!
I have a brag book on Notion, though I filled mine with the lovely emails I get about my work/offerings. It serves as a reminder that even when it seems like no one cares about what I’m putting out into the world, that is rarely true.
This is such a beautiful idea--as an artist trying to sell my work, my focus is too often spent on what other people want. I think creating a brag book would help me bring the focus into what is bringing me joy in my work, regardless of what others think.
I do this too! I have a running google doc and all my little wins are screengrabbed and stored there. Essential for the hard writing days. Thanks for sharing this beautiful idea 🙏
Love it. I have a similar book called ‘365 Notes’ where I have gathered all the advice I have collected over years. I haven’t published it yet. I will one day.
Hi Kathryn, I am so glad you included the link to your article and I get to read it. I am so impressed and feel connected to you. I would love to have a virtual coffee with you. Would you be interested? I will send you the Zoom link, if you are in direct message.
I bought your book "Crochet Saved My Life" back in the day. At that time it was a great help in my crochet journey. You can read a bit about it in the guest post I did on While I Was Drawing. I'm so glad to have found you here. The brag book is a wonderful idea. I'm going to give it a go. Thank you.
Oh wonderful, thank you for sharing. I always love people’s crochet stories. And I’m so glad that my book offered you inspiration. If you ever care to write a new guest post about it, I’d be happy to share that with my readers. <3
Love that brag book idea. Bookmarked!
YAY!

Love this! I just posted something similar today, though wish I’d thought of the name ‘brag book!!’ 😄
You're welcome to use it anytime of course :)

I would love to but it’ll have to be later in the summer as things are a bit full right now.
