It's really an intriguing phenomenon that our collective attention is drawn to these stories ... there's something rich there about the more recent ones that are so tied in with social media (Anna Delvey, Fyre Festival) and what "truth" and "reality" even mean in this era. Sketchy people are always going to scam but the scale possible with the ease of today's global reach is mind boggling.
Ok I’m very interested in this “scam tv docu” conversation. Will probably spend the day reading more about that! And bujo which I didn’t know was bullet journaling until now.
Aren't the conversations from Notes so fun?!! It seemed like all of a sudden there were so many of these stories of scammers / con artists at this unique level of society where social media meets big money, often in tech. Some are docuseries and others are dramatized and I'm here for all of it.
I love this and am so glad to see it exists! I recently posted a note saying, wouldn’t it be nice if there were a stack dedicated to interesting comments. This is the next best thing. Thank you!
Aw thanks!! I really find that it's a helpful way for me to see Notes and Comments as more than just "social media" but really an ongoing engaging dialogue.
Nourishing myself with bed rest after yesterdays surprise migraine attack😫 my first (full blown) in 6 months.
Reading the newly published “The Alchemist Within”. Written by author Jan Greetham, we are in a writing group called “Dream Warriors”. I highly recommend this book to you, there is so much magic on each page. Whether you will consciously connect with it or not, you will receive it just the same.
It certainly is✨ I’ve been in mild pain all day, had to cancel visit to friends. The pain is going now though, hoorah! And I’ve booked in a floatation tank for 9am to lift me back up into the land of the living 🙏
Me too🙏 I’m finding the more spaces I have where I can retreat away from the world helps me to not only continue healing but is also essential to helping me keep steady and standing in my power when I’m out in the world✨💫
Thanks. I put a lot of love and time into it. But believe me, I take a lot of naps and watch terrible TV for way too many hours as well. I just turn my attention here for all of the rich inspiration. It fuels me.
Today is Sunday and I'm looking forward to a book group I'm co-moderating this week on the chapters "Gold" and "Iron" from Primo Levi's Periodic Table. I co-moderate with a professor friend from UPenn.
The logistics are based on asynchronous email where you respond to a a question and other comments by replying to an email Listserv. You can be a silent observer or an active responder. The moderator's job is to balance between keeping on topic and letting people feel free to go in new directions. And to start each discussion day with a good question!
We've been doing it for a dozen years, and it works surprisingly well. I never understand a story better than after one of these week long explorations. Eventually, I'd love to figure out how to bring it to Substack as I think it would work really well here.
That sounds really interesting. I don't know anything about that book so I'm curious to learn more. I imagine that you're able to have really rich discussions.
Having a quiet Sunday to dive into your thought and also waking up with new clarity about the project I'm working on. Thanks for your notes and notes and being part of your broad scope.

Perhaps it's really just the Snake Oil genre of TV
Thanks for the mention 💛
Thanks for the chat!

I’m always in for good drama to add interest to my mostly mundane life!

Excellent way of phrasing that
Thank you for the mention, Kathryn. I appreciate you 😊
Thank you for sharing your inspirations with me this week!
Fantastic resource. Kathryn!
WeCrashed on AppleTV has the same vibes as Inventing Anna and Theranos for sure!
Thanks! I thought that I had watched that one but I just double checked and I don't think I have so I'll check it out.
Many thanks for the mention. I really think you must have more hours in the week than the rest of us - awesome amount of work.

Thanks Kathryn for all your community building.
