LOL. So derpy. She was the best. I'll have to see if I can find an old video of her excited prance walk. It made everyone laugh. She was truly the soulmate of dogs for me. I love love love the ones I have now but she was something truly special.
Molly was my soulmate; if you see a red dachshund under my hoodie or poking her head out from under my shirt, that's her. And: she lives on in these goofy images!
I’m a big fan of roundups and this one is full of wonderful people, 90% of which I have likely not read from before. So many accounts to explore and people to subscribe to!
Thank you for including me and sharing your insights form a translation & psychology perspective, Kathryn 🥰 such an enriching exchange!
Thank you - that whole conversation about words was so much fun! I try to regularly chat with different people here and create spaces where everyone can connect more. I love when it works!
Wait, what? A mention? I appreciate it and the work you put into this roundup! If you ever find yourself near San Diego, I know this Greek place we could visit... 😎
Thanks for the connection to artist Sue Clancy! I don’t know if she can help me but I’ve messaged her about a couple of drawings I need some assistance in bringing to life. One of my inner child and one of my vision for the chronic illness community. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Ironically, I love the word Onomatopoeia. I also love the word Serendipity and Shenanigans. I hate the words moist and cloistered and hoist... I guess I don’t like the ‘oist’ sound
Thanks so much for the mentions and inclusion Kathryn! You put so much work into your roundup posts, they are always wonderful!
I want to chime in an say, my phone app just updated today and I'm having an issue with the visually busy look of the homepage. It feels like way too much! I was looking about for Notes and realized that was the Homepage after a few minutes. I'm not good with changes like this either. I find the app itself is distracting and detracting me from wanting to use it.
Yeah I’m having trouble with the update and it also made me realize how different my own Substack page looks on app vs desktop which I’m not sure what, if anything, is I want to do about that. 🤷🏻♀️
I too noticed the big difference between the app and the desktop. Before the update of the app, they were both quite similar.
I use my desktop for Substack much more than I use the app. Here are some of my reasons why:
1) I spend a lot more time on my computer than on my phone.
2) The only time I use the app is if I am out and about and might want to either check in on Notes or perhaps read something to fill in time if I am waiting somewhere for something.
3) I share my photography on Notes and it is all stored on my desktop.
4) The most important reason, you can not post on your page using the app.
I have all the notifications turned off on my phone. When I am off I my computer, I try to stay as disconnected as possible. I've been online way too long now, disconnecting is really important for my emotional and physical well being.
Ps - so glad you do that for yourself. It’s really important. I used to take tech-free Tuesdays (basically no screens) and I am thinking about resuming that practice
A brilliant and generous round up. There's a lot of excellent writing on Substack. This shows the quality of the reading, too. And the importance of dialogue between the reading and the writing. This is one of the best ideas for posts I have seen on here. Thank you for doing it.
Thank you for the mention, Kathryn. It is definitely a conversation that needs continuing. I have spent too long thinking I am just a useless adult for not being able to do the Monday to Friday, 9-5. It’s nice to see I’m not alone and that it’s not me who’s the problem. 🖤
Thank you so much for the mention! Really appreciate you and your kindness ❤️💙 I love these roundups.
I enjoyed our conversations this week and hope they continue!
Me too!
Katara is beautiful!
And also: derpy. I love that.

Absolutely gorgeous. <3

thanx for the shoutout! your work is not only helpful for lots of people but also wonderful!
Thanks for tagging me on that image ... I'm exploring how I want to share it!!
i leave that up to you, you know better than anybody

I loved that whole conversation
Thank you so much for sharing my drawing!! It was a wonderful conversation and I am glad to do my part!!! Thank you again!!! 💚💚💚
Delighted me so much

Thanks for the mention, Kathryn! 😻❤️
Love this round up! The discussion around words and how they feel and sound and the weight they carry.
That was such a fun conversation! Do you have any favorite words or words you hate?
Ironically, I love the word Onomatopoeia. I also love the word Serendipity and Shenanigans. I hate the words moist and cloistered and hoist... I guess I don’t like the ‘oist’ sound

That all makes sense. For writing I always use the desktop but I use notes frequently on my phone.

That makes a lot of sense. I use the phone when I’m in the car on the way places (I’m not the driver) and when I’m waiting in lines.

Thank you for that feedback. I've been questioning the value of it a little bit and it helps to hear that perspective.

It is absolutely not you that is the problem!!! <3 <3
I love the sketch. At first I thought he looked like a rat but now he looks like a wolf to me. Either is good.
I have a drawing called Rat Girl. Maybe I’ll post her in my notes. I know she’s on my instagram.
And I love your dog’s name.
I had a cat named Kanga. He left us in 2020 at 19 years old.
Aw so sorry for that loss. Good old age to live to but it is always hard to lose them. ❤️❤️
I collect rabbits. Stuffed and statues. I also collect coffee mugs. Bonus for coffee mugs with rabbits on them.
I love tiny pictures frames, beveled glass, and I hoard pens and makeup.
I hoard pens too but wouldn’t say I collect them. Rabbits is fun!!
