Jane, thank you so much for reading and sharing! Ah, feeling seen in another’s words - one of my favorite things that writing can do for us all. 🩷

This is so beautifully written and it made me cry!! Thank you for writing this and thank you for sharing so honestly! My own mother is very typically "Type A" and I am not, so I often look around my house wondering why on earth has that hanger been on the floor for 2 weeks, why has no one picked it up, why am I not picking it up, and is this even normal? Thanks for helping me feel normal.

Kaitlin, I can’t thank you enough for this comment! This essay was a little out of the box for me, and I felt pretty self-conscious about it.

But feeling seen in others’ words and then having other’ see themselves in yours is perhaps the single most important function of writing and reading in my opinion! So seriously, thank you.

And that hanger on the floor? So normal.

Thanks so much for reading and commenting and sharing honestly. These words made my heart happy. 💜💜
