Why the heck do you write so much Kathryn? Also about paywalls, my Pay What You Can sliding scale, and why I'd rather you pay me $10 per year than $10 per month ...
Ah yes, sorry. I’m so scattered right now! Yes moving to the new house!!! We start the 20th but we are moving two places into one and I’ve been in my spot over 14 years so a lot has accumulated. Plus I uncovered a terrible mouse problem that’s now requiring attention. 🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️ I am so excited for this move but it’s a lot!!
How exciting! I saw that you mentioned getting approved but for some reason thought it would be a while. I guess I was thinking of the process of buying a house, not renting. Sounds like a great time to get out of there! 😂
Kathryn, thanks for peeling back the curtain a little more here. Oddly enough, this is exactly the sort of email I enjoy reading/thinking about, probably because I have a mind that has been conditioned by business ownership to appreciate hearing about challenges and strategies to overcome them, most particularly with a subscription-based business.
I am doing a monthly feature sharing my paying subscribers with you all in more detail, featuring five subscribers per month. I am happy to share them in their own posts where it’s transparent that that’s what I’m doing. Also, most of them are writers here so I truly do want to share their work in this way. It’s part of my commitment to building a true community here. So that’s a perk I’m comfortable adding for paying subscribers.
I think the "not an ad" ad idea is a very good one. Integrity is overwhelmingly my main concern here as well, and transparency would bolster that section considerably, as you suggest. My spidey-sense is that there are other adjacent ideas out there like this, although I'm not sure exactly what right now... but transparency and staying true to your "true north" isn't really something I worry about with you. You have that firmly set, and I think that's at least a part of the reason we're friends! That, and furbaby angels.
Last thing: that's very interesting about the annual folks vs the monthly folks! Very counter-intuitive, but numbers don't lie.
I don't know what to say, except that I heard a plea for help and decided to contribute what I could. But I haven't been here long and I do not have any ideas really yet, except to say I really enjoyed the piece where you discussed moving to San Francisco.
I just want to say that I really appreciate your writing and what you are wanting to achieve long term. Art and mental health is a massive topic and you write about it and share about it in ways that offer possibilities, offer opportunities, offer life...
Hi, Kathryn! I emailed you at your gmail regarding a collab opportunity. I'd love to talk about working together.
Yes definitely! I unexpectedly am moving apartments this month so I’m behind on all email stuff but I’ll be in touch soon.
What is the best way to contact you?
Email. I’m a little slow to respond right now because I’m unexpectedly moving. But I will! Kathryn.vercillo on Gmail
It’s fine, I just couldn’t find your email (only social media links). Moving to the house?

It usually takes longer even for rental but we were able to move fast. So excited.
Okay I thought it seemed super fast.
And it is definitely a lot. Moving in general is.

Very much appreciate the support

I just want to say thank you.
Grateful for this. 💕💕💕
