What lovely encouragement for us writers! I agree with many of your reasons. Also, it's summer; people are out and about, as they should be. I may not read everything, but I'm glad I read this.

Godspeed Kathryn and thanks for this sensitive, insightful post. Does humor help? My 'stack is all humor. I also recommend Garrison Keillor. As for your impediments to writing, know these are shared by all "good" writers, from what I can tell. You are not alone.

A well thought out piece on why to read or not read thank you. I write for me and produce art for myself. I share on here because it keeps a record for me, especially as I gift so much of it and this way I remember

I also have often used public writing - blogs and social media - as a way to record life for myself with the bonus that it might connect to others.

It takes so much energy to hold ourselves apart from considering our lack. This is a very thoughtful and thorough list and I appreciate you so much for repobliching it.

I needed to hear this--not just as a writer, but also as a reader who is overwhelmed with the amount of reading I want to do but just can't because I'm a finite human being.

Yes! I tend to want to read everything from start to finish but it’s impossible so I try to trust that what’s meant to find me does and it’s okay to release the rest
