This is a much bigger problem than most people realize and affects all kinds of people - not just young women. I live in Michigan, where the easy access to Canada makes us more vulnerable to this. I was horrified to learn that one of our most popular places - Mackinaw Island - provides a prime setting for traffickers because of its closed off access. Thank you for doing the research on this so we know this is a cause we can support.
Thank you for your comment. I grew up a couple hours from the border with Mexico so I often forget that the same issue can happen on the northern border. Good reminder. You're so right that it's not just young women. It's people of all ages and genders. And while sex trafficking is most well known, labor trafficking is also really problematic. <3
That is horrifying. Zero pressure but if you have any interest in doing a little research and writing a guest post I’d be happy to share it as part of Dressember awareness.
Thanks Mya! I had learned about it through Instagram a few years back. At the time I was doing a lot in the world of crochet and had interviewed Namaste and Crochet who had been impacted by human trafficking and was participating. It's a big world but also a small world and we're all connected!
I live in Japan. I learned about human trafficking from YouTube. This is an event happening in the world. I learned from Kathryn Vercillo's book that Dressember is a movement that uses fashion and creativity to fight human trafficking and protect people in poverty from violence. Although it is a small matter, we will cooperate with paid subscribers. We hope that as many supporters as possible will participate.

Yes, that seems to be the problem in Mackinaw Island. They can conceivably be trapped during the winter with no way off.

Thank you. I’d like to try.
Wonderful! You can email it to me at kathryn.vercillo@gmail.com - let me know if you have any questions. Whatever you come up with will be helpful!
Thanks. I’ll be sending it later today.
I've never heard of Dressember, loving that you do so much to raise awareness and bring people together.
