My favorite part is engaging deeply with the work each of you write. My equally favorite part is when that effort connects writers to others they may resonate with. <3 <3
Dear goddess there is sooooo much great art and writing being produced. Thank you for including me. I wish I had more time to dive into more of these wonderful artists work!
Regarding your poll on journals, I’d add a third option - only by someone(s) who loves me or reads them with compassion and curiosity. I can’t tell you how much I wish my mom had journals. She never talked about stuff, it would be lovely to see her inner self now. I wouldn’t have wanted that a decade ago but now is different. I’d love to read journals from my grandparents now too. I wasn’t ready when they died though.
That's a great point - there's a big difference between no one seeing your journals and anyone seeing them! My dad left us his and it's one of the most special things ever as I go through my grieving process. <3
Thanks so much for the mention Kathryn! Sam's story was certainly inspiring to me and I feel very grateful to be on your weekly list! Thanks for putting this together. There are so many great and interesting writers here, but often I don't know where to start. Your weekly list gives me some direction, thanks again :)
You know what else is cool? For us Substack writers, we get compared favorably to other published authors here every week! That's pretty rad. Thank you, Kathryn, for taking the time to curate such a list, and for including your creative contemporaries!
Thank you for mentioning and quoting my writing. And thank you also for translating it into the warning light that it can be. Your roundups feed my soul at the weekend.
This is such an amazing collection of works, I'll have to dive into all these later when I have time. Thank you for the effort it took to compile these.
I am just getting started on this site. I'm journaling short notes about my artistic burnout experience and other musings while drawing an endangered species every day. Feel free to take a look if you are looking for new artists. ♥
So incredible, as it always is, to see such inspiring work from writers across this Substack community. I'm happy to be included on the list again. Thank you, Kathryn for the mention and for including me in your always-very-rich digest of posts.
An ode to unproductivity! I love that. (She says as she squeezes every last productive moment out of every day and continues in a state of perpetual burnout). Ah well, I’ll keep reading it until it sinks in and I take care of me someday. Ha!
Thanks so much Kathryn for this lovely and kind mention. I love what a treasure trove of other wonderful posts I found here. 🙏❤️

I really love that here on Substack we can exist side by side with some of our favorite writer idols.

Thanks again for the highlight. Excited about the poll. Loved the nugget from your dad’s journal.
Thanks, it's really special having those journals.
