This is brilliant! I've been thinking recently about how we always want to write from the ending - from a place where we've found healing or recovery or closure - and so we either pretend we're all good now or don't write at all. But life is rarely like that, which also means that's not relatable. Some of the most beautiful work comes from the middle of it all.

Yes, you phrased that so well. I know that even when I actively try not to, it’s really hard for me not to put some nice ending on what I’m going through, as if I’ve already reached some other side where everything is better and I’m “okay” now. And it never rings true!

I found myself doing it the other day, about emotional health rather than physical, but often they can be similar. I wanted to write about how I "used" to feel this way, then I stopped and thought, "you still feel that way, why do you need to make out it's over to construct a narrative around it?"
