Welcome to September. I don’t know what this month holds for you but I hope that whatever it is, it includes a little bit of magic and love and creativity and connection and inspiration and rest and laughter. As for me, I’ve decided to take September as a reset month.
What’s a reset month? Basically, I just feel clogged up - my calendar, my mind, my body. So I want to create as much spaciousness as possible. I want to set few expectations for this, no agenda, no specific purpose beyond creating space, and just see what unfolds.
Practically, what does this mean?
Not putting anything else on the calendar
Taking everything off the calendar that doesn’t feel absolutely necessary
Not committing to any big new projects, even ones that start October and beyond, until the month is complete
Eating cleaner, moving my body more
Removing my most time-sucking habits: phone games, reality TV, social media
For here on Substack it means:
Reducing time spent on Notes
Not answering comments in as timely a manner as usual
Limiting my reading of other newsletters
Resharing some of my older messages from the archive
I’ll still be publishing newsletters here regularly throughout the month. Some are already scheduled. Some are visual interviews people recently submitted that I’m very excited about and feel energized by.
Perhaps Last Chance to Get Create Me Free for only $10/year
Although I’m not setting expectations for the month, one of the questions I’m going into the month with is how to make Substack a sustainable place for me to create.
This may mean changing my paid model. I’m not sure. But if that happens, I’m not sure what that will mean for my sliding scale offers. I definitely always want to keep sliding scale payments as an option. But I don’t know if I can offer them at as low as a rate as I currently do. It depends what “paid” ends up meaning.
So, if you want to lock in a rate for paid offerings here, September is the month to do that. Choose the rate that works for you, which for one year worth of near-daily “content” might mean: $10, $25, $50 or $75. Our expenses reflect our priorities. If you believe in Create Me Free, choose the price that works for you.
