Typically, at the end of each month, I provide a monthly recap of my writing and work. I offer this as a specific section of Substack so that people who want to quiet the noise can elect to just receive those monthly digests and digest them, if you will, at a pace right for them (here’s how). But the last one I shared was back in September. That’s because I have been pausing and really thinking about what Substack is for me now, a thing that’s been changing and changing since I started writing here several years ago.
For a long time, I wrote near-daily, blog style. It worked wonderfully for me for many reasons. And it didn’t work for everyone, hence the monthly recap option. But now, that’s not what works for me. So in 2026, you can expect a difference cadence. I’ve been really enjoying writing and sharing my Sunday Dear Artist letters with you. Those will continue.
I’m also planning a Wednesday newsletter sharing resources and information on specific themes all related, of course, to the complex relationship between art and health.
Probably the biggest news is that I’ve been working hard to refine and relaunch the framework and services I offer for helping creatives understand the complex interplay of art and health in their lives, identifying strengths and reducing blocks. Sneak peek: read my new page on Creative Health Cartography.
And then a few things here and there throughout the month if they feel right - mental health in art history posts, or relevant thoughts on books, or something about neurodivergent creativity or craft as therapy or music and mental health. And then, at the end of each month, as usual, I’ll give you the monthly recap in case that’s all you want.
One of the things I hope to figure out early in 2026 is what to do with THREADSTACK. It has a place in my work and in this community, I know it does, but it hasn’t worked in a way that works for me. We’ll see. I’m not forcing any decisions.
Below you’ll find the roundup of things shared these past few months other than the Dear Artist letters (which, to be honest, were all my favorites). And if you want to see what the rest of my 2025 included, you can look through the monthly recaps on the home page.
But mostly I am just here to check in, to say hi, to say that in the times when I am quiet, it’s because I need to be quiet, and in the times when I am loud, it’s because I need to be loud, and I invite you to join me here in whatever way resonates for you at any given time. Let’s connect. May your end of the year be filled with moments of comfort and joy.
Love,
Kathryn
